ESDGC Schools Network
Because of a lack of funding, the ESDGC Schools Networks has unfortunately been unable to continue to operate in its previous incarnation. The organisation will, however, continue its work and is currently evaluating the options that are open to it. Interim plans have been agreed by Cyfanfyd to work towards establishing a future programme. There will be a newsletter about progress and what's on offer later this term.
From the outset it was clear that the plans were being made in a changing context but, despite this, much has been achieved by the network in the last two terms. They are now in the process of taking stock of that and exploring what possibilities there are in the future. The agenda remains important even though the funding context is more difficult. Projects, events and conferences, not least the first National Network Conference in July have demonstrated a lot of enthusiasm and the potential for network approaches.
Speaking of the successes that the ESDGC Schools Network has already enjoyed, Gareth Wyn Jones, Chair of ESDGC SN Management Group, said:
“Since January 2010, 21 projects and a national conference have involved over 800 people. The evaluations have been very positive. I would like to thank all those involved for delivering this ambitious programme so successfully.
“This is a new phase in building networks that can take on the challenges of ESDGC and support schools preparing for a new inspection regime. The challenge now is sustaining our momentum to offer the support that is needed.”
Partnerships between the voluntary sector and educational practitioners have been at the heart of ESDGC since its inception. Schools and LAs now have ESDGC responsibilities. The network is seeking to clarify its role in enabling and supporting their work.
