DEA Research into Youth Sector and Global Youth Work

In May 2009, the Development Education Association (DEA) based in London published a research report carried out by Here and There Consultancy into the current state of the youth sector and global youth work.

As a result of this the DEA provided a briefing to DFID, comprising both background information and policy recommendations, to inform the development of their support for global youth work.

Toolkit for ESDGC in Youth Work

Funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's ESDGC Panel, Cyfanfyd has now completed work undertaken with colleagues from CWVYS and UNA Exchange to develop a Toolkit for Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship in Youth Work. Where the Common Understanding of ESDGC in Youth Work, launched in November 2008, dealt more with the what and the why, the Toolkit deals with how to embed ESDGC in youth work.

The Toolkit will include: what youth workers need to 'do' ESDGC, how to measure progress in ESDGC, support and resources for ESDGC, case study examples of ESDGC in youth work practice from throughout Wales, as well as some easy-to-use introductory activity ideas for ESDGC in youth work. This Toolkit has been submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government and we are awaiting news of when this resource will be produced and disseminated.

Many thanks to all of you who had input on the development of the Toolkit.
