36% of all the schools in Wales have now attended EES supported training provided by the 10 regional fora. Interested in finding out more?

A Request

The time is fast approaching when we will need to put together the next 5 year plan for EES (post 2009). We will be sending out more information later this term but in the meantime please start to gather your thoughts.

Regional Round-Up: Plans for 07-08

North West
School grants to support ESDGC planning. Workshops:
secondary subject groups (music, art); HIV/AIDS (pupil led); and story telling. Resources support and guidance: open evenings and cluster meetings. Autumn newsletter.

Cardiff
School grants. Teacher working party to produce an ESDGC starter pack for primary schools. Conference for student teachers. Teacher placement days (with Careers Wales). Secondary teacher placement at Flatholm Island.

North East
INSET: primary-ESDGC guidelines; revised secondary
curriculum; Foundation phase. Secondary working parties
(all 3 authorities). Event: GC and young people in partnership with county youth services. School grants.

South East Wales
Continuation of resources project— INSET across the 4 authorities in partnership with Schools Library Service. KS3 D&T project with students from UWCN. INSET day for ESDGC coordinators in schools.

Ceredigion/Carms/Pembs
ESDGC network of special schools. Two INSET days (primary
and secondary). Follow up to resources project. Teacher
working party focusing on classroom activities to
accompany ’ESDGC map’ produced last year. School grants.

Neath Port Talbot
Follow up event to support ESDGC champions in schools. Teacher working party to develop good practice guide. Cluster training to disseminate working party outcomes.

Swansea
Update and review existing resource boxes. Conference for
senior teachers and governors. Improving communication
and increasing engagement of both teachers and SEEF
members—2 events planned.

Vale of Glamorgan
Interim planning group developing an ESDGC awareness raising event for primary and secondary teachers in Nov

Mid Glamorgan
Continuation of P4C project. Develop toolkit—P4C in an
ESDGC context. Develop ESDGC resource boxes. School
grants.

Powys
School grants (schools will need to demonstrate clear plans for follow up). Termly newsletter. Four CPD sessions across the county focusing on different aspects of ESDGC. Annual dissemination event (AGM).
