Welcome to the Cyfanfyd E-bulletin The E-bulletin provides a monthly update on the activities of Cyfanfyd, its member organisations and developments in ESDGC in Wales. You are welcome to send us information and news by the deadline of the 19th of the month for inclusion in the next month’s bulletin.
Although ESDGC has clear and explicit links to race equality and cultural diversity there is very little black and minority ethnic representation in ESDGC in the formal or informal sectors. We are keen to increase the diversity of the organisations that we work with and, as a precursor to a possible long term project, we will be holding a ‘Round Table’ discussion forum for BME organisations and faith groups to explore ESDGC and the possibilities for them to be involved in it. The forum will take place at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre in Cardiff on Tuesday 21st April from 10 am ‘til 1pm. New Resource for Secondary Schools – TIDE recently launched Enabling a Connected Curriculum – opportunities for global learning at key stage 3 (www.tidec.org) which explores teaching and learning strategies to best meet the needs of learners in a changing global context. The conference which launched the resource provided opportunities to consider ESDGC within and across the curriculum as well as using themes such as ‘climate change’ or ‘cities’ to explore global issues across the curriculum. The conference provided an opportunity to meet Cathryn Gathercole (Practical Action) who will be taking over from Scott Sinclair as the new director of TIDE.
Global Youth Work
The Cyfanfyd Global Youth Work in Wales Project has organised 4 regional events over the past month to raise awareness of the recently launched Common Understanding of Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship in Youth Work in Wales document. We travelled from Conwy to Swansea to Llantwit Major to Newport meeting with almost 100 youth work practitioners. We witnessed the birth of many new ideas and are looking forward to following their progress over the coming months.
Lifelong Learning
Last year LLUK produced the “New professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the lifelong learning sector in Wales”, which describes consistent performance for all teachers in terms of knowledge, understanding and professional practice. The application guide will apply the generic standards of the above document to the effective promotion and teaching of ESDGC by all teachers in the lifelong learning sector, and describes consistent performance. |

Mae’r E-fwletin yn rhoi gwybodaeth fisol am weithgareddau Cyfanfyd, ei aelod-sefydliadau a datblygiadau ADCDF yng Nghymru. Mae croeso i chi anfon gwybodaeth a newyddion erbyn y 19eg o’r mis i’w gynnwys ym mwletin y mis canlynol.
Er bod gan ADCDF gysylltiadau clir a phenodol â chydraddoldeb hiliol ac amrywiaeth ddiwylliannol, cynrychiolaeth fach iawn sydd gan bobl dduon a lleiafrifoedd ethnig yn ADCDF yn y sector ffurfiol neu anffurfiol. Rydym yn awyddus i gynyddu amrywiaeth y sefydliadau y gweithwn â nhw ac, fel cam tuag at brosiect tymor hir posib, byddwn yn cynnal fforwm drafod ‘Bord Gron’ ar gyfer sefydliadau pobl dduon a lleiafrifoedd ethnig a grwpiau ffydd i ystyried ADCDF a’r posibiliadau iddynt fod yn rhan ohono. Caiff y fforwm ei gynnal yng Nghanolfan Gelfyddydau’r Eglwys Norwyaidd yng Nghaerdydd ar ddydd Mawrth 21 Ebrill rhwng 10am a 1pm. Adnodd Newydd ar gyfer Ysgolion Uwchradd – Yn ddiweddar lansiwyd Enabling a Connected Curriculum – opportunities for global learning at key stage 3 gan (www.tidec.org) sy’n ystyried pa strategaethau dysgu ac addysgu a fyddai’n diwallu anghenion dysgwyr orau mewn cyd-destun byd-eang sy’n newid. Lansiwyd yr adnodd mewn cynhadledd a roddodd gyfle i ystyried ADCDF oddi mewn i’r cwricwlwm ac ar ei draws yn ogystal â defnyddio themâu fel ‘newid yn yr hinsawdd’ neu ‘dinasoedd’ i ystyried materion byd-eang ar draws y cwricwlwm. Roedd y gynhadledd yn gyfle i gwrdd â Cathryn Gathercole (Practical Action) a fydd yn cymryd yr awenau fel cyfarwyddwraig newydd TIDE yn lle Scott Sinclair.
